Cabin Operations
This section outlines the standard procedures for cabin operations at Air Canada Virtual Airline.
Door Arming & Security
- Door Arming: Cross-check pairs (L1/R1, etc.) after passenger boarding is complete
- Security Search: Required on aircraft’s first flight of the day and after security threat level Yellow+
- All doors must be properly secured before taxi
Passenger Briefings
All flights must include safety demonstrations that cover:
- Seat belt usage and requirements
- Emergency exit locations and operation
- Electronic device policy
- No-smoking policy
- Oxygen mask procedures (when applicable)
- Life vest location and usage (when applicable)
The safety demonstration may be conducted via video or performed live by cabin crew.
Cabin Secure Calls
The cabin must be secured and reported to the flight deck:
- Completed by 3 minutes before push-back
- Confirmed prior to takeoff
- Reconfirmed after go-around if applicable

Sterile Cockpit Periods
Cabin crew must observe sterile cockpit procedures during:
- Taxi
- Takeoff and climb below 10,000 ft
- Approach and landing below 10,000 ft
During these periods, only safety-critical communication is permitted with the flight deck.
Emergency Procedures
In the event of an emergency, cabin crew should:
- Secure themselves in nearest available seats
- Prepare the cabin for emergency landing/ditching if time permits
- Review emergency evacuation procedures
- Assist passengers with special needs
- Direct evacuation if necessary, ensuring all passengers leave the aircraft
Cabin Service Standards
While not a safety requirement, cabin service should mirror Air Canada standards where possible:
- Short-Haul (less than 2 hours): Beverage service, light snack
- Medium-Haul (2-4 hours): Beverage service, meal service
- Long-Haul (more than 4 hours): Multiple meal services, mid-flight snacks, pre-arrival service
Communication with Flight Deck
- Use interphone for routine communications
- Use established phrases for emergency communications
- Inform flight deck of any unusual situations in the cabin
