# VATSIM Radar

## Live Network Map

VATSIM Radar is a free, web-based interactive map that displays real-time activity across the VATSIM network. It shows live pilot positions, active ATC coverage areas, upcoming events, and detailed controller information - all in one place.

## Key Features

### Live Traffic View

See every active flight on the VATSIM network plotted on the map in real time. Click on any aircraft to view details including callsign, aircraft type, altitude, speed, departure, and destination.

### ATC Coverage

Active controller positions are displayed as shaded coverage areas on the map. You can quickly see which airports and sectors have live ATC staffed before you plan your flight.

### Event Information

VATSIM Radar highlights upcoming and active events directly on the map. This makes it easy to find staffed events, fly-ins, and cross-the-pond events without checking multiple websites.

### Flight Search

Search for specific flights by callsign, or browse traffic at a particular airport. This is useful for checking how busy an airport is before departing or arriving.

## Using VATSIM Radar for Flight Planning

VATSIM Radar is a valuable tool during flight preparation:
